Unlearning is often the act of clearing away the cerebral debris piled on us from outside influences. It's not like we can develop an immunity to these influences or take a vaccine like COVID. And maybe we don't want to. We all need influences and societal pressures to moor us from floating away in a sea irrelevant introspection. The gift is know what to grab onto, pile in the corner to use when we need them, and yet still allow "unique self" to shine through for the world to see. What outside factors we hang onto, and what we get rid of (or unlearn) is how we create who we are. Then it's like there are no lines, at least lines that we haven't drawn for ourselves.
